I had the pleasure of shooting with Malaika Muindi last Saturday at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. It was actually my first time visiting the garden after living in Brooklyn for 2 years ... #DontJudgeMe 😣 ... but I don't think we could have picked a better setting for the look we were going for. Despite there being no flowers in bloom (we realized we were a couple of months late lol) the garden offered a variety of different backdrops and lighting scenarios for our shoot. Malaika just recently got her first professional headshots done with another photographer and was looking for something a little more casual and editorial in nature; more or less the type of photography you'd see accompanying a celebrity feature in a magazine. So with that in mind, I wanted to capture her in a variety of different poses and work her into the environment as much as possible.
